A business card is still the cheapest, highest-impact piece of branding a small business can carry. Here's how to choose the right one and set it up so it prints perfectly the first time.
How many should you order?
Because we print digitally, there's no need to order thousands. Our tiers run from 50 to 1000. A sole trader or new brand testing a design is well served by 50–100; once your details are locked in, 250–500 brings the per-card price right down. The unit price drops sharply as quantity climbs, so if you know you'll hand them out, the larger run is usually better value.
Single-sided or double-sided?
Double-sided is the small upgrade that earns its keep: logo and name on the front, and the back working for you — a QR code to your booking form, a short service list, a loyalty stamp grid, or your social handles. On a digital press the cost difference is modest, and the extra real estate almost always pays off.
Stock & finish, explained
- 350gsm Silk — our standard. A smooth, lightly coated card with a clean, professional feel. The right choice for most brands.
- 400gsm Silk — noticeably thicker and more substantial in the hand. The most popular upgrade for brands that want a premium first impression without changing the look.
- 350gsm Matte Laminate — a velvety matte film over the card. Scuff-resistant, fingerprint-friendly, and lovely to write on.
- 400gsm Soft-Touch — our flagship. A thick card with a soft-touch matte laminate that feels like suede. This is the card that gets a reaction when you hand it over.
We don't offer foil, spot UV or embossing — those need specialist gear — but a soft-touch 400gsm card competes with anything for tactile quality.
Setting up your artwork
For a standard 90 × 55mm card, supply your file at 96 × 61mm — that's the finished size plus 3mm bleed on every edge. Keep all logos and text at least 3–4mm inside the trim (the safe area) so nothing important is cut off. Supply a print-ready PDF with fonts embedded or outlined, in CMYK at 300dpi. For a double-sided card, send a two-page PDF: page 1 is the front, page 2 the back.
A note on colour: screens are RGB and look brighter than print. Vivid blues and oranges in particular can shift, so design in CMYK if colour accuracy matters, and ask us for a printed proof for critical brand colours. For a deep, even black use rich black (C40 M30 Y30 K100), not plain K100.
Don't have print-ready artwork?
That's fine — send us your logo and details and we'll lay the card out for you and email a proof to approve before anything prints. Every file we receive gets a free artwork check so problems are caught before, not after, the press runs.
Turnaround
Standard cards are 3–5 working days from artwork approval. Laminated and soft-touch finishes, and rounded corners, add about a day for finishing. We courier NZ-wide.
